I just finished preaching through the book of Ruth. Forget your notions that this is an Old Testament book about romance and how to find a godly husband. It’s a story about love alright, but not the kind of love you’re thinking. This section of God’s word is a good prescription for those suffering economic hardships and doubting God’s goodness and sovereignty. As the author makes plain, the sovereign, though sometimes invisible hand of God, is working behind the scenes of our lives and orchestrating every detail to work for His glory and kingdom and for our good.
